Loving Los Angeles after a period of being unplugged in Death Valley National Park.  It was wonderful to get away for the weekend!  We enjoyed two excellent tours of Scotty's Castle.  First, we enjoyed the underground tour.  The guide was as competent and dynamic as Virgil in Dante’s infero.  He really shed light on the inner working of the mansion which three mysterious people put on a show of luxury that makes Alpine pretense look casual.

Yet my favorite thing was the warm spring swimming pool behind the Furnace Creek Ranch.  This may be my favorite, affordable, weekend getaway spot in the LA area.  It is so beautiful there.  The sky is blank.  There is no trash, only beauty.  The mountains line the sky like lace ribbons discarded by a giant goddess.  In my book, Death Valley is one of the most relaxing and fun places to visit.

We made time to go shopping in Beatty, Nevada.  We bought fresh local honey for an adorable little shop at the end of the modest little town.  A place with some beauty to share and polite shop keepers waiting for you to visit.
